How Men Fall In Love

Charlie and I were having dinner with friends, we were asking each other questions from a pack of questions cards that Charlie would bring on our early dates.

One of the questions was…”what have I done recently that made you feel loved?”

And Charlie’s answer surprised me.

I’ll share my answer first….. I said, “I feel loved when Charlie makes me my tea in the morning, when he listens when I share my feelings, seeing his smiling face waiting for me when I arrived home from my trip.”

(you’ll notice these are all receptive things….)

Charlie’s answer…

He said “I felt most loved recently when I saw how happy you were when you arrived from the airport and I was here to greet you with a meal ready.” he continued, “I felt loved seeing you so happy to see me, how delighted you were to come home to a lovely meal and that I could do that for you.”

My friend’s husband agreed, he said, “Being of service, making my wife’s coffee just how she likes it and seeing her appreciate it, makes me feel loved.”

WOW!!! I adore these men.

Even though I’ve known this for so long….that men fall in love by what they do for you….In their action…..

It still blows me away to hear it.

Both me and Charlie felt loved by both his action AND my ability to receive with warmth, delight and appreciation.

And do you know what?…. I nearly didn’t let him know how lovely it would feel for him to be waiting at my house with a meal cooked, I nearly didn’t ask him if that’s something he’d be willing to do.

My reasonable head was thinking… “He’ll have had a busy day at the office, it’s too much to ask him to drive 30 minutes and cook for me”

My reasonableness could’ve had us miss out on all that love!

And the result is that Charlie, and my friend’s husband’s just want to give EVEN MORE!.

My friend shared that after 30 years of marriage they are more in love than they have ever been.

She’s letting herself relax and receive and he just wants to serve her and make her happy.

Charlie us booked a wonderful surprise last weekend in a log cabin in the Welsh countryside, because he knows how loved I feel when he surprises me.

All I had to do was enjoy myself and appreciate him.

I want this for you my loves.
